Ingredients

Servings: 1
240ml (1 cup) Soy sauce
120ml (1/2 cup) Honey
60ml (1/4 cup) Water
2.5cm (1 inch) Fresh ginger
2 cloves Garlic
1 tbsp (15ml) Cornstarch

Steps

1

Combine the soy sauce, honey, water, grated ginger, and minced garlic in a medium saucepan. Stir to combine.

2

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Stir occasionally as it heats up.

3

Once simmering, gradually whisk in the cornstarch slurry. Continue whisking constantly to prevent lumps from forming.

4

Continue to cook and stir the sauce for another 3-5 minutes, or until it has thickened to your desired consistency. It should coat the back of a spoon.

5

Remove the saucepan from the heat. Let the teriyaki sauce cool slightly before using. It will thicken further as it cools.
